New Summer Schedule Saves Money for Winton Woods Schools

FOREST PARK, OH (FOX19) - From June 18 through July 27, Winton Woods City Schools has once again implemented Summer Cost Savings Days throughout the district. “We have switched over to working four days each week instead of the usual five,” said Steve Denny, executive director of accountability and business affairs. “We realized from our Summer Cost Savings Days last year that this program can save over $15,000 in electrical usage in the summer.”

All district employees and associates are asked not to use any district facilities or utilities, especially and specifically electric power every Friday, Saturday and Sunday each week during the cost savings period. The two exceptions are the high’s school’s athletic building for coaches and student athletic programs and Winton Woods Primary South which houses the Sharon Hill summer day camp. Any other access to district facilities on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday during the cost savings period must be approved in advance through the business office.

“The district leadership and Board of Education are doing everything in our power possible to save district funds, especially as it relates to areas such as this that do not directly impact students learning or personnel cuts,” said Denny.
