WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) - U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan and Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory met with Cincinnati homeowners on Tuesday.

They were joined by housing counselors to discuss President Obama’s refinance proposals at the home of Nate Griffin, a retired union electrician based in the Westwood.

Joined by Secretary Donovan, Mayor Mallory and Nate are Lori Taylor-Schulte (Cincinnati homeowner), Rick Williams (Home Ownership Center of Greater Cincinnati) and S. Barb Busch (Working in Neighborhoods).

WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) - An official opening for a Mitt Romney victory office was held Friday in Westwood.

The Westwood Victory Office for the Romney for President and Republican Victory operations in Hamilton County is located on Montana Avenue. 

Congressman Steve Chabot delivered remarks and other local officials were on hand to join in the festivities. 

Although this is the official launch of this location, the Romney campaign – working side by side with the RNC and Ohio Republican Party – has been on the ground for months building aggressive field operations around the state.

Deal made to finish infrastructure in unfinished subdivisions

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) – The Hamilton County Commissioners approved an agreement Wednesday for an insurance company to pay to complete roads, sidewalks and other public-area work left undone when a developer abandoned the Legendary Ridge subdivision in Miami Township after the real estate market collapse.

Lexon Insurance Company will pay the entire obligation of $191,126 in public necessary to complete the subdivision.

“Our residents expect and deserve to have basic public infrastructure completed where they have chosen to make their home and invest in our community,” said Hamilton County Commission President Greg Hartmann. “I’m proud we have made it a priority to follow a fair process to ensure the law to protect residents in the predicament of an unfinished subdivision is followed.”

Obama campaign opens office in Cheviot

CHEVIOT, OH (FOX19) – Wednesday, local Obama supporters are gathering for the grand opening of the latest Organizing for America-Ohio (OFA) office in Cheviot, with guest speaker Katherine Archuleta, who serves as the National Political Director for the President’s re-election campaign.

The event is scheduled for 7:00 p..m. at 3722 Harrison Avenue.

Illustrating Ohio’s important to the campaign, Obama already has offices in Middletown, Mason, East Walnut Hills, and Forest Park, in the Cincinnati area, as well as Wooster, Warren, Defiance, Mentor, Lima, Bowling Green, Toledo, Beavercreek, Youngstown, New Philadelphia, Athens, Parma, Columbus, Dayton, Shaker Heights, Chillicothe, Ohio State University, and Troy. The campaign says the Cheviot office will serve as a community hub for 2012 election activities.

By way of contrast, the only office listed for Indiana or Kentucky on the Obama campaign website is one in Louisville.

Colerain to provide EMS service to part of Springfield Township

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - The Colerain Township Fire & Emergency Medical Services has started providing Springfield Township with first responder service for medical emergencies in the Pleasant Run Farm area, which is at the northwest corner of the township, east of Hamilton Avenue and north of I-275.

The contract provides initial emergency medical care of any dispatched emergency.  A Colerain paramedic engine company from Pippin and Kemper will be responding as the first responders.  A Springfield Township life squad from the station in New Burlington will be respond for continued treatment and transportation of the patient.
