Driver hits, damages fire engine at scene of separate crash

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19)- A Miami Township fire truck has been damaged in an accident while leaving the scene of another crash Saturday morning.

At about 10:20 a.m. Saturday, when crew members were preparing to leave the scene of an accident at I-275 near the Wards Corner Road exit, a car struck the vehicle from behind on the left side. The crash caused significant damage to the fire engine, a 1994 Pierce, which will be out of service until further notice.  

The driver of the car suffered non life threatening injuries, and was transported to Bethesda North Hospital for treatment. Three Miami Township crew members were also transported to the hospital for evaluation as a precaution, they have since been released.

The highway was closed for several hours as State Highway Patrol investigated.
