McAuley high school students walking for a cause | News
COLLEGE HILL, OH (FOX19) - (Sent by Kathy Dietrich)
The Sisters of Mercy, who sponsor McAuley High School and were founded by Catherine McAuley in Dublin, Ireland, became known informally as the "walking nuns" for their ability to care for the poor outside their convent. The students at McAuley High School each month continue this tradition of walking to help others.
On September 8, forty-nine McAuley walkers, including students and adults, participated in the Buddy Walk for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati. They raised $515 for that organization.
Three weeks later, on September 29, McAuley walkers participated in the Rock Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness, which was put on by St. John the Baptist on Dry Ridge Road. The thirty-three walkers raised $355, which goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
