Ribbon-cuttimg ceremony held for Children's Hospital in Green Township

GREEN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A ribbon-cuttingceremony was held Friday morning to celebrate the opening of the new Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Green Township.

Cincinnati Children’s Green Township is located in the 5800 block of Harrison Avenue.

The 80,000 square-foot outpatient center features a wide variety of pediatric medical and surgical specialty clinics and services, including Urgent Care, laboratory and radiology services; and therapies including occupational, physical and speech therapy.

The facility will officially open for patient care on Monday, April 29.

WESTERN HILLS, OH (FOX19) - TriHealth has opened their first Priority Care location on Glenway Avenue in Western Hills.

The center officially opened their doors on Monday, March 4.

TriHealth priority Care provides unscheduled, walk-in care for non-emergency illness and injuries.  Located at 6139 Glenway Avenue, this is the first Priority Care location to open, with a Mason location (8350 Arbor Square Drive) scheduled to open in May.

FOREST PARK, OH (FOX19) - Jessica Jordan, a 2009 graduate of Winton Woods High School and a cadet at the United State Military Academy at West Point (USMA), is part of a team of researchers who are studying a recently identified protein marker for depression that is assayable from whole blood. This is the first identified marker accessible through a standard blood draw, and it promises the potential of an easily administered objective screen for depression.

The American Heart Association is promoting Go Red for Women on Friday, February 1st to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke in women.

Personal trainer spinning 8 hours for local charity

WESTERN HILLS, OH (FOX19) - A Mercy Health personal trainer will test her endurance during a eight-hour spinning event for charity.

Western Hills HealthPlex training lead Jessica Leonard  will hold an eight-hour indoor spinning event at the HealthPlex on from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on January 27. Leonard herself will spin the entire time.

She is undertaking this arduous task to raise money for Girls on the Run of Cincinnati, a local charity whose mission is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.

“Every pre-teen girl deserves to learn self-respect and healthy living while training for her first 5K,” says Leonard. “That moment immediately after a memorable and successful run is irreplaceable.”

Flying Pig takes off at five urban Libraries to encourage kids to be fit

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is partnering with the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon and the Nutrition Council of Greater Cincinnati to help youngsters “Be Smart, Eat Well and Move More.” Once again this year kids can get their “Oink” on at the Avondale, Corryville, Price Hill, and West End branch libraries and the Main Library’s Children’s Learning Center. 

Through May 4, kids (ages 5-12) are invited to keep track of the distances they move, the healthy food choices they make, and the time they spend exercising their brains with the Public Library by logging their efforts on the Kids’ Marathon “Hog Log,” available at all five of these Library locations and online at www.flyingpigmarathon.com.
