HARRSION, OH (FOX19) - Celebrate Earth Day by helping to restore forest and preserve wildlife habitat at Miami Whitewater Forest! Volunteers are needed on Saturday, April 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to help plant 10,000 trees.

This project will require physical labor, like digging holes and planting trees, but the time and energy is well worth the reward of making a difference in the environment! Volunteers age 12 and up are welcome, and are encouraged to dress for the work with long pants, long sleeved shirts, work gloves and sturdy shoes.

Registration and a signed volunteer waiver are required to participate. Contact Volunteer Services Manager Kris Roselle at (513) 521-7275 or at kroselle@greatparks.org to get signed up.

Public Library receives $111,000 from Duke Energy for reducing energy consumption

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - On December 11, Duke Energy presented the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County with a check for $111,000 as a rebate for reducing energy consumption at the Main Library.

These savings resulted from the Library’s participation in Duke Energy’s SmartBuilding Advantage ® program. This program used building energy usage interval data and on-site assessments to identify and analyze energy efficiency opportunities at the Main Library. Following program recommendations, the Library replaced T12 lights with T8 lights and implemented improvements to its boiler plant in order to generate the highest energy savings in the shortest amount of time for the lowest cost.
