Man arrested in Colerain shooting

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19)- One man has been arrested in a Colerain Township shooting.

Officers say Kendal McBride, 19, shot Andrea Johnson twice in the 3100 block of Lapland Drive on Monday.

Police say it started with an argument over drugs that ended in McBride beating and shooting the victim.

McBride was in court on Wednesday morning on felonious assault charges. His bond was set at $100,000.

Northwest high school student ranked second in the nation for desktop publishing

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Kelsi Garibay, a junior in the Financial Services Program at Northwest High School, ranked second in the nation in desktop publishing at the 2013 Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference.

A total of six Northwest business students traveled to Orlando, Florida for this conference between May 7-12, 2013. The students competed in business events, networked with students from across the country, and attended leadership workshops with industry leaders. Approximately 6,000 business students from 26 states participated in conference.

Kelsi Garibay competed in Desktop Publishing. Fox Moeller competed in Fundamental Accounting. Antenajia Carter competed in Fundamental Word and received her Ambassador Award. Jenna Ahr competed in Financial Math and Analysis and received her Ambassador Torch Award. Alexandra Roelofs and Gage Smith competed in Administrative Support Concepts and received their Ambassador Torch Awards.

Several vehicle break-ins reported in Delhi Township

DELHI TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - During the overnight hours of May 14th into May 15th several vehicles were broken into in the western part of Delhi Township.

Vehicles were broken into on Candleridge, Mapleton and several vehicles were broken into on Timbervalley. One of the vehicles on Timbervalley had the keys left in the vehicle, and the vehicle itself was stolen. 

The vehicle taken was a dark blue 2001 Dodge Caravan with Ohio plate EZJ9056.

CRC still looking for lifeguards

CRC still looking for lifeguards

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- The Cincinnati Recreation Commission will hire 47 additional lifeguards to staff the pools for the summer.

CRC hires more than 225 lifeguards for the summer season. 

Complete training is provided through CRC's American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Classes. There is only one more class before the pools open for the season, and it starts on Friday.

The next lifeguard training class begins Friday, May 17 at 5:45 at Mt. Auburn Indoor Pool; 270 Southern Ave. 45219. Class runs Fridays 5:45 – 8:45 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for two weekends through May 26. Police investigate homicide in East Price Hill

EAST PRICE HILL, OH (FOX19)- The Cincinnati Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in East Price Hill.

Officers responded to the 500 block of Elberon Avenue at around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Scott Kakaris, 27.

Man arrested in Colerain Twp shooting

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19)- A man was arrested on Tuesday after a shooting over the weekend in Colerain Township.

Kendal McBride, 19, was arrested and charged with felonious assault.

On Sunday, police were called to the 3100 block of Lapland Drive just before 2 p.m. Authorities believe McBride caused serious facial injuries to a female inside the home by striking her in the face with a handgun. 

He then allegedly shot the victim twice, once in the arm, fracturing her arm, and once in the leg.

The victim was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she remains. Police say her condition is unknown, but the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The incident remains under investigation by the Colerain Police Department Criminal Investigative Unit.

West Side Classic to benefit Ollie Schmitt Foundation

CHEVIOT, OH (FOX19)   - Two west-side select youth baseball clubs have banded together to host a baseball tournament Saturday, May 18th at Cheviot Fieldhouse. The West Side Raiders and Cincinnati West Stars will donate proceeds collected at the game to the Ollie Schmitt Foundation.

Several families involved have benefitted from the Ollie Schmitt Foundation in the past, and the kids and coaches alike wanted to offer something in return. The Ollie Schmitt Foundation for Scholarships and Assistance benefits families and children in crisis. The Foundation is located at 3621 Glenway Ave. The Foundation aides both St. Williams School in Price Hill and Margaret B. Rost School for the Developmentally Disabled.
